ABSTRACT
M6 Toll is a major £450M ( e 670M) UK motorway plan-ned to relieve traffic congestion on the old M6 through the suburbs of Birmingham. Approximately 50% of the mainline pavement is constructed with a continuously reinforced con-crete pavement and most of the mainline bituminous pave-ments are constructed over a cement bound material (CBM) subbase. This paper explains some of the engineering thinking which contributed towards the successful construction of this major UK project.
